The most important thing is to keep well.
We wanted to check in and share with you some very SIMPLE yet IMPORTANT things you can do right now to maintain your health (and sanity). We are deeply committed to the health and well-being of our community, on every level. The clinic is open and will remain open to continue helping support and maintain the health of our patients and their families. We will be offering distance consultations for herbs and supplements, as needed. We do have herbs and supplements in stock now to help boost immunity. Reach out to us if you would like some help with this: (954) 434-1800. Of course by now most have become more conscientious of basic precautions such as hand washing, traveling, cleaning surfaces, covering your sneeze or cough, and stockpiling TP (sorry couldn’t help myself; and FYI if you run out and can’t find something to wipe with I will gladly share my TP with you;) ). Here are 3 things you can do RIGHT NOW to safeguard your immune function. Because honestly, when ignored these are the 3 biggest threats to your immune system hands down! 1. Get your sleep. Sleep is the time for your body to reboot and repair. Getting the rest your body needs provides you resilience, lowers inflammation, and improves your overall well-being. Aim for at LEAST 8 hours of sleep and lights out by 10:30pm. If you cannot control your sleep/wake schedule (ie. shift workers or a parent to an infant or young child that wakes multiple times a night) it is important to at least keep your sleep cycle as regular as possible. If that means going to bed and just closing your eyes 1 hour earlier...do it! If you're having a hard time falling asleep, here's a really easy bedtime meditation track you can use. 2. Stay hydrated - with WATER! (H2Only…everything else is extra) Water is literally the foundation of life. It provides for better detoxification of the lymphatic system, kidneys, liver, and colon. Staying well hydrated will give the body's immune system more space to function. It allows more room for the microscopic avengers, scavengers, and enforcers of the immune system to do their work more efficiently. It improves your microbial balance which is essential to staying healthy as the virus continues to spread. If you’re having trouble with getting enough water in throughout the day try setting a timer on your phone to go off every 2 hours reminding you to drink water. Proper water metabolism has been shown to be pivotal in treating and preventing the C19 virus. Taking small sips of water throughout the day keeps it out of your mouth and flushes it into your stomach to be killed by your stomach acid. 3. Stay CALM. "To be like the rock that the waves keep crashing over. It stands, unmoved and the raging of the sea still around it." — Marcus Aurelius Fear and anxiety trigger the release of cortisol, this dials back your immune system to a degree. You may think it is easier said than done, but it is a conscious choice you must make by letting go of your attachment to the outcome … the "what if." Stay focused on what is in front of you right now. Remember what you CAN CONTROL…remember you’re ABC's A: Attitude (gratitude over fear/ love over hate) B: Breathing C: Choices (Choose to be Proactive NOT Reactive) An easy way to shift from anxiety to calm is through the breath. It is a powerful tool we can all use to our benefit. Click here to check out a few breathing exercises we put together; try one each day for the next week and let me know how you feel. BTW, if you find these exercises and emails useful feel free to forward them to friends and family you think may benefit from it. REMEMBER… Don't allow yourself to be sucked into the hysteria, learning to drown out the "noise" is one of the greatest lessons in life. As always, we are truly grateful for your support and we're here if you or your loved ones need help. Sincerely, Christal DeHay, AP, DOM & The Deep Roots Team P.S.
